Architecture - Construction & Design

Current Updates with 3D Printing for Architecture - Construction & Design

17th Nov’17
Date: 17/11/17
Venue: Hyatt Regency, Mumbai
2nd edition Architecture - Construction & Design event details to be uploaded soon..

3D printing has been used in architectural practice since the 1990s, and while its use for producing design models continues to be adopted, the aesthetics and stylistic potential of its output remain unexplored by many architects.

Although 3D printing may be perceived as a complex process, there is no reason for a model not to reach its full potential from a lack of design engagement. Architects need not concern themselves with all the technicalities of 3D printing, but an understanding of the capabilities of the technology and the extent of what can be accomplished can increase a model’s value as a design and communication tool.

And 3D PRINTING WORLD – THINK BOARD - Architecture – Construction & Design even will precisely share the knowledge and wisdom on how it could be attended.

Some architects and builders have moved away from creating physical models because of the expense and time it takes to build an architectural model. However, with the introduction of 3D printing technology, physical models are once again practical.

From Architecture design to construction the 3D Printing technology is now starting to become a reality. Architects and contractors around the world are beginning to build the first 3D residential structures including houses and apartment buildings.

What makes 3D printing different than the current construction methods? The 3D printing is done using super-size printers which use a special concrete and composite mixture that is thicker than regular concrete, allowing it to be self-supporting as it sets, according to Dr. Berokh Khoshnevis, Director, University of Southern California, Advisory Council member of 3D PRINTING WORLD an initiative and concept formulated by Trinity Media & Marketing Solutions. 3D printed components do not have the same design constraints that may hinder current construction methods. In addition, curved concrete structures created through 3D printing can be hollow, using less material and creating space for building services inside the structural elements.

Not only could this revolutionize the construction industry, but the less expensive process could also affect housing affordability. Lower material usage and lower labor costs creates a less expensive construction method which can in turn create lower-cost housing.

China, Europe and Dubai have already started implementing this technology and have constructed buildings.

So in the 3DPW - Think Board we shall be discussing on both Architecture & Construction.

Topics of interest in the 3D Printing World – Think Board Architecture – Construction & Design.

  • 3D Printers
  • Scanners and scanning tools
  • Materials
  • Software and Modelling tools
  • Latest trends in 3D printing – Automobiles & Engineering Tool Design.
  • Customization of Models and actual implants as per requirement for better efficiency, speed & reliability.

The event will be deliberated on key points – (session to be TBD accordingly)

  • Physical model provides a visual perspective that you can’t achieve with blueprints, drawings, or even digital 3D models.
  • 3D model helps the architect, contractor and client to envision the home on the lot to take full advantage of the views, terrain, and other natural elements, such as afternoon shade and morning breezes.
  • Architectural models can be 3D printed in full-color (over 750,000 variations of color) for awe-inspiring presentations and displays. No painting required!
  • 3D printing your architectural models will save time and money and increase the Architects value to their clients.
  • With 3D printing technology, is not limited to straight lines and boxes. A 3D printer can easily print curved walls and rounded rooflines.
  • 3D models help architects and contractors communicate effectively with homeowners and clients, ensuring desired results and avoiding expensive changes once the project is under construction.
  • Just because we can 3D print in full color doesn’t mean it is mandatory. The monochrome models also look great for large-scale projects.
  • No project is too large or too small, from cityscapes and commercial buildings, to homes and swimming pools—if the Architects can design it, we can create a physical model of it.
  • Conceptual architecture defines the future. 3D print will do much the same to help achieve it. Turn ideas into reality.
  • 3D printed architectural models show incredible detail. The resolution of the printers is finer than a human hair.
  • Architectural models a must for developers marketing to investors, for seeking tenants and for fundraising.
  • 3D-printed architectural models aren’t limited to homes and commercial buildings. Can print swimming pools, resorts, concept vehicles, tradeshow booths, movie sets and just about anything else.
  • 3D print models in different materials including sandstone-like, digital plastic and UV-cured resin. The type of model determines which material will produce the best results. The choice of the material can be made for the best of the project.
  • 3 D Printing Architectural scale models quickly communicate design concepts and allow people to easily comprehend a project.
